“And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.” (Jeremiah 3:15)
Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. (1 Timothy 5:17)
As Presbyterians, our shepherding leadership consists of a plurality of elders. We refer to the elders together as the Session, which provides local care and oversight of the congregation.
Pastor/Church Planter
Pastor Trace Turner
Our pastor serves on our session along with the elders listed below. As a mission church still in the process of waiting on the Lord to raise up local elders and deacons, HRPC is overseen by our local pastor along with a Commission/TGB of the Midwest Presbytery.
Session of Elders
“A temporary governing body (TGB) of elders, appointed by the presbytery, oversees the mission church. This temporary governing body has authority to examine and receive new members, to exercise church discipline, to administer the sacraments, to conduct elections for church officers, to examine officers-elect in preparation for the mission church to become an organized congregation, and to oversee the financial affairs of the mission church.” (RPCNA Directory for Church Government).
These are the presbyters on our TGB:
- Pastor Steve Rockhill (Living Way RPC)
- Pastor Bruce Parnell (Stillwater RPC)
- Elder Emeritus Wayne Curry (Topeka RPC)
- Elder Nathanael Cook (Living Way RPC)
- Elder Sean McDeavitt (Living Way RPC)
We seek to continue growing in number and in fellowship with one another until the time the Lord sees fit in His providence to enable us to call our own local elders and deacons.
